Our daughter C, was diagnosed with this disease on September 11, 2009 when she was only 3 years-old. We have no family history of T1D, and live a fairly healthy lifestyle. Our two next door neighbors (brothers), were also diagnosed last year (in January and February) with diabetes as well (at ages 3 and 19 months) so we were familiar with the disease…but seriously, what are the odds!?! When I saw your capes, I knew it would be perfect for our little “diabetes girl.” She wore it (along with her mask) proudly at last year’s walk. Minnesota’s walk is held at the Mall of America and is one of the country’s largest.
The Diabetes Girl blog was started recently the current plan to help friends and family more easily register/contribute to this year’s Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk for the cure. After the walk, I hope to use the Diabetes girl blog more as a daily journal of our family’s experiences in living with Type 1 Diabetes.
She is our hero!
